Platform well slot recovery
Enable new wells from existing platform infrastructure
Claxton has developed many innovative solutions to the technical challenges and operating issues faced when recovering old conductors by using bespoke tooling and fast-track design engineering capability.
With decades of well abandonment, decommissioning and platform slot recovery experience, Claxton has the knowledge to devise cost-effective streamlined solutions when it comes to challenging platform infrastructure.
We have tackled complex challenges including performing rigless operations and working to recover conductors with fatigued connectors – both of which have posed no problem to our range of bespoke tooling and multi-skilled crews.
Platform slot recovery from Claxton is supported by an extensive suite of rigless conductor recovery services that have been used with successful and cost-effective results across the globe.

Platform slot recovery packages from Claxton include:
- Abrasive or mechanical cutting options
- Torsion or ‘jacking’ cut verification systems
- Conductor recovery interfaces and equipment
- Drilling and pinning to secure conductors for safe recovery
- Hydraulic lifting systems for recovery of conductors
- All interface equipment for safe lifting and handling
- Design and provision of whipstocks or deflection tools to run the new conductor

Patented technology from Claxton
Claxton’s platform and slot recovery operations are carried out using our patented cutting-edge technology.
First developed in 1999, our subsea abrasive cutting suite, SABRE™, has proven to be an invaluable industry tool and has been successfully used in some of the world’s most significant abandonment campaigns. Its abrasive jet exits the tool at transonic speeds – making light work of even composite materials such as cemented casings.
SABRE is supported by our RAPIER™ tubing bandsaws which are electrically powered and fully compliant for zone II environments. They do not require additional power packs and are classified to operate under a ‘cold’ permit to work.
