About

Save rig time and cost when batch-setting conductors

Our conductor cementing support system can save significant rig time on each conductor being installed.

Increasingly, operators install a jacket, drill through the jacket structure and batch-set the platform’s conductors ready to install the topsides. They then bring a rig over the jacket and use it to run the conductors.

Traditionally, the rig would have to hold each conductor in place while the cement cured. However, we’ve devised a solution that saves 12 to 18 hours of rig time per conductor, also cutting project costs as a result.

The support system’s low-profile design engages under the starter-head at the required height and is then hydraulically actuated to hold the conductor in position during curing. Since the rig no longer has to maintain the starter-head position, it’s free to skid over to the next slot to run the next conductor.

  • Holds conductors in place during curing with no need for a rig
  • Save 12–18 hours’ rig time per conductor
  • Gain even more efficiency by running two systems simultaneously
  • Proven in the field on projects for major operators in the North Sea

Drill bushings

Misalignment between drilled holes and platform guides during spudding can lead to operational issues when running conductors and tying back wells. It can also increase fatigue of the conductors and lead to poor cementing – both factors that impair the lifetime of the well.

Misalignment can be mitigated with drill bushings, which are centralisation structures for the drill string/collar. They typically interface with the lowest level conductor guide of the platform of a pre-drilling structure.

We can provide drill bushings in a range of designs to suit project-specific requirements, from disposable units made of wood and cement to retractable designs that allow multi-use on a batch campaign.
