Recycle platform slots to drill new wells and maintain production
Environmental corrosion is a major cause of 30" conductor casings losing integrity. To ensure the safety of operations, the well should be plugged and abandoned.
Using our proprietary conductor deflector tool (CDT) enables the same platform slot to be recycled so a new well can be drilled, maintaining the production profile.
We developed the CDT so operators could deviate a new well using the platform guide slots while preventing the transfer of installation loads to the platform. Instead, the load transfers to the stump of the older well.
The design of the CDT features a larger conductor pipe in which a long vertical window is cut. Low-friction pads are fitted at the top and bottom of the window to provide a 2° deviation for the new conductor and reduce vertical running loads.
