Congratulations to our Norway summer interns Finn Rasmussen and Stian Sandanger, on winning the best BSc project 2025!
Their project titled “Electromechanical cutting tool for well decommissioning”, stood out among a high level of student projects nominated, and was awarded at Ocean Young on 1st October 2025. The award, included a diploma, 15,000 Norwegian Kroner and well-deserved recognition.
Supervised by, Claxton Project Manager, Michal Koranek at our Norway facility, the project highlights the increased demand for decommissioning within the oil and gas industry and the potential to increase efficiency, reduce equipment and mobilisation times through the development of an electromechanical cutting tool, further resulting in lowered costs for the operators.
Finn and Stian shared, “Working with Claxton was highly motivating and challenging”, with many aspects being “unfamiliar and different” from their coursework.
