The Challenge

Claxton supported Allseas with the removal of Spirit Energy’s DP3 and DP4 Morecambe Bay jackets in the East Irish Sea. Working closely together to create an engineered solution to provide tooling to be used in a challenging location due to shallow waters, tough tidal conditions and poor visibility for ROV operations.

The Solution

Allseas cut and recovered the two jackets using Claxton’s industry leading water abrasive cutting technology. Claxton’s engineered solution included; Internal Pile Cutter, Soil Plug Removal Tool, Subsea Drill & Pin, Diamond Wire Saw and Deployment Tugger Frame. Claxton undertook onshore trials to demonstrate the capabilities of the tooling before being mobilised offshore.

The Result

The project was completed successfully, utilising the leading cutting and recovery technology, aided by our Cut Verification system. Claxton were able to provide state of the art decommissioning equipment together with experienced offshore personnel to deliver a solution.
