Operated from Jack Up Vessel - 90 Minute cleaning time per monopile
The project was completed as part of a new wind farm installation off the North East coast of Scotland.
Monopiles had been driven into the seabed in advance of the transition piece being installed.
Cleaning was required to remove build up of marine growth / biofouling to ensure a seamless installation of this transition piece and grouting to the monopile.
Claxton designed a bespoke Marine Growth Removal (MGR) Tool to suit the 7.5m diameter profile.
The brand new tool was utilised across 19 monopiles in total, while deployed from the DEME Apollo Jack-Up Vessel.
Average clean time across the project was 90 minutes per monopile.
The operations were supported by Claxton’s offshore technicians, providing valuable MGR experience to the project and ensuring any issues could be overcome in a timely manner.
