Our history
Our origins - stretching back over 40 years
In 1995 decommissioning services were added to the growing business and, after joining the Acteon group in 1999, ongoing investment in a combination of technology development and strategic acquisitions have established Claxton as the leading supplier of offshore cutting and decommissioning services globally, with an international footprint of operational facilities.
In 2011 Claxton began providing services to the offshore wind energy installation market, in the form of bespoke engineered monopile dredging and cleaning services. These services and technologies have evolved until in 2024 the company achieved a world first, with a large diameter monopile cutting and recovery in Taiwan.
In May 2026 Claxton were acquired by AF Gruppen and are now part of their Offshore Division.
Claxton Engineering now operate from 8 locations globally providing operations on every continent with a workforce of over 350.
