APPRENTICESHIPS AND TRAINING
The Apprenticeship Levy is a UK government initiative introduced to encourage employers to hire apprentices, which supports their target of three million apprentices by 2020. Employers with an annual pay bill of more than £3 million, minus the offset £15,000 payable to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), are required to pay 0.5% into a levy pot. The funds in this pot are then transferred into vouchers only redeemable for the training of apprentices. Funding can be used for current employees as well as new starters and Claxton invests this money back in to the training of our staff. We have several employees who have taken advantage of this and are currently undertaking HNCs and business management degrees. Our employees have the opportunity to undertake company sponsored qualifications including MBA level programmes.
The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) is the skills, standards and qualifications body with statutory responsibility for the development of the engineering construction workforce of Great Britain through an industrial training levy. Claxton invest heavily in the ECITB and we utilise the training available to ensure we upskill our people in areas such as communication skills, presentations skills, technical training, leadership development.
