LATEST NEWS: Claxton to supply 34” dynamic overshot for North Sea operator
Claxton, an Acteon company, has been successful in winning a contract to supply a new build 34” subsea overshot, which utilises hydraulic inflatable seal technology, for an operator in the North Sea.
Having reviewed the high-level riser analysis provided by the operator, Claxton’s design solution enables tieback to the subsea well’s low-pressure (LP) housing without having to directly interface with the wellhead manufacturer’s proprietary connector.
The Claxton overshot swallows over the LP housing and utilises inflatable seals to provide pressure integrity around the housing’s outer body. With the overshot attached to the base of a 30” environmental riser, the solution allows a hydrostatic fluid column to be held within the riser. The riser analysis stipulated no requirement to mechanically lock the overshot to the LP housing.
To aid the installation, Claxton has ensured the overshot design also incorporates a quick-connector as the connection to the 30” riser. This solution provides a simple and efficient, non-rotation assembly of connection; and eliminates complicated and time-consuming offshore handling.
Claxton will also provide offshore service personnel to aid the field installation of this project.
