Claxton supporting National Women in Engineering Day

National Women in Engineering Day (#NWED2016) is an International awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the amazing career opportunities available in this exciting industry. It takes place annually on the 23rd June.

The sub-theme for 2016 was #RaisingProfiles and to celebrate this theme a collaborative regional event was organised for the Eastern region at the John Innes Centre Norwich Research Park. The event featured a collaboration between the STEM Ambassador Programme contract holders CONNECT Education Business in partnership with Women in Energy Group WEN UK, OPITO UK, the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) including STEM Ambassadors and other supporting organisations and businesses.

At the event engineers from Claxton spoke with potential engineers of the future about working in the oil and gas industry and ran through a series of related workshops and activities.

Ann Vicens, Product Leader, Claxton said. “It was a great day. I personally felt very inspired by the speakers and most of all the level of enthusiasm and attention of the girls. A good reminder of how great it is to be an engineer and how rewarding it is to interact with students and engineers of the future.”
