Claxton proud to part of the Platform of Opportunity Week 2016
OPITO’s Platform of Opportunity Week in academic partnership with East Norfolk Sixth Form College, from the 14th-18th March will see firms in the region engaging with around 175 college and secondary school pupils looking to get one step closer to finding a role within the industry.
The Skills Organisation for oil and gas requested participation from Claxton for the initiative which covers Great Yarmouth, Waveney and Norwich. Through a taster session which was held on Thursday 17th March at our Great Yarmouth Headquarters, enabled pupils from Great Yarmouth College to apply their education to working life situations.
Throughout the Claxton session, the young people had an introduction to well engineering, had a tour of our facilities and then finished with insight into career pathways into the industry from our talented workforce.
Speaking about the Platform of Opportunity Week, Claxton’s HR Business Partner Sarah Tarrant commented, “At a time where the oil and gas industry is worried about the talent pipeline of the future, here at Claxton, we’re committed to driving innovation, and creating an environment where people want to come to work and achieve their aspirations. The Platform of Opportunity Week gives pupils a chance to reflect on how they can shape their future career choices and be part of an exciting industry.”
