Claxton’s clash of the titans!
On Sunday the 9th of May two Claxton teams took to the water in Oulton Broad, Lowestoft for a Dragon Boat race in aide of the East Anglian Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Braving cold weather (and even colder water) the Claxton Crusaders and Claxton Conquerors battled against 29 other teams from businesses all around East Anglia.
The Claxton teams take to the water
The teams really got into their stride in the morning, posting respectable times in the competition, despite the cold. However, the afternoon brought sunshine and even hotter competition – as our two teams were pitted against each other in what must surely have been one of the most hotly fought contests in Lowestoft’s maritime history. The fierce competition between the two teams saw the Crusadars shave an impressive 8.54 seconds off their previous best time. In the end though the Conquerors won through – besting the Crusaders by just 0.46 seconds with a time of 71.88.
The day ended with the Crusaders coming a commendable 27th in the competition, while the Conquerors narrowly missed out on the semi finals by placing 11th.
A big thank you to everyone from Claxton who took part on the day, our supporters who did a great job of cheering us on and to all the volunteers who ensured the day ran smoothly.
Here’s to next year!
